August 20, 2020

Dear NCAARC Members,

I am excited to step into the President’s role after the wonderful leadership of Todd Bolin. I can only hope to continue leading our division in the direction that promotes excellence with grace and commitment Todd presented during his leadership.

I would like to share a little bit about myself and my background.

I came from Croatia in 2007 on an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska. I competed in Track & Field for four years while double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. That is where my desire to know and understand research was first ignited. Upon graduation from UNL, I pursued a professional career as an Olympic hopeful and moved to Columbia, SC, where I pursued my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During my studies my research focused on international students and implementation of self-care practices. Since graduating in 2016, I have worked in a non-profit organization, private agency, and private practice. Currently, I am a Doctoral Candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. For the last two years I worked as a graduate assistant in the office of Assessment and Accreditation at the UNCC, where I had a wonderful opportunity to collaborate on multiple projects pertaining to various assessments in higher education. Throughout my graduate career and as a young professional I have grown to value the contribution research makes on a systemic level. I am very excited to serve as president of the NCAARC and continue to contribute to the development of the counseling field through research and assessment.

My commitment to you is that I will continue to promote excellence in assessment, measurement, and evaluation in counseling through professional programs, research and development, with the ultimate goal of addressing the mental health issues in our communities in a collaborative manner.

Thank you and I look forward to interacting with each and every one of you!

Sincerely,
Arna Erega, MA, LCMHC
